Getting Here

The Arboretum can be found in the centre of England on Croxall Road, Alrewas in Staffordshire. 


The Arboretum is easy to reach and is close to all Midland motorways. If you are using a Sat Nav to find us, please use our postcode DE13 7AR.

Visitors can also get to the Arboretum using public transport, on a seven day bus service, which travels from Tamworth Rail station. This new bus service, funded by Staffordshire County Council and operated by Diamond Bus East Midlands, will make it easier for visitors to travel to our free-to-enter 150-acre woodland site.

Parking at the Arboretum

A parking charge applies to all cars and motorcycles, including blue badge holders. Visitors who book their visit in advance will receive a discount on the daily parking charges that apply at the Arboretum.

Arriving by car or motorcycle

If you are using a Sat Nav to find us, please use our postcode DE13 7AR.

The Arboretum is located just off the A38 / A513 between Lichfield and Burton upon Trent. You can follow the local brown signs to find us. 

We have two large car parks, one next to our Remembrance Centre and the other around 300 metres, on the left, past the entrance to the Arboretum on Croxall Road. For further parking information please visit our Book Parking page

Please note, we are unable to provide lockers where motorcycle helmets can be stored. 

Arriving By Bus

A seven-day bus service operated by Diamond, runs from Tamworth Rail Station. The bus stop at Tamworth Rail Station is located on Offa Drive (A513), approximately 150- metres from the train station. Exit the station approach (Victoria Road),  then turn right onto Offa Drive, the bus stop is located on the opposite side of the road, just beyond the traffic lights. 

The bus service is free of charge to National Concessionary Bus Pass holders. Staffordshire Knot tickets are also valid for travel on the service.

Visitors travelling on other local services, between Lichfield and Burton, can transfer onto the bus in Alrewas village. You can find the connecting buses timetable here.

 

Arriving By Train

A seven day bus service operated by Diamond, runs directly from Tamworth Rail Station, through Alrewas Village, to the National Memorial Arboretum. 

Visitors travelling to other local train stations, Lichfield City and Burton-on-Trent, can travel to Alrewas Village using Diamond Bus no.12 from each location's respective bus station. Passengers can then transfer onto the direct bus in Alrewas village.

Arriving By Bicycle

National cycle route 54 runs from Lichfield to Burton on Trent through Alrewas village.

A cycle rack can be found outside of the Remembrance Centre on the car park. Bicycles are not allowed in the Remembrance Centre and should not be used on our site.

 

We are unable to provide lockers where cycling equipment can be stored.

Arriving by private coach / mini bus

The Arboretum is located just off the A38/ A513 between Lichfield and Burton upon Trent. You can follow the local brown signs to find us.

We ask that coach / mini bus drivers confirm their arrival times with the Arboretum in advance of their visit, you can do this by calling 01283 245 100. Upon arrival on site, unless otherwise directed, please use the drop-off/pick-up area outside of the Remembrance Centre. Coach parking is free and a member of our team will advise you where to park.

Complimentary refreshment vouchers are provided to the drivers of pre-booked groups.

Arriving by canal boat

The Arboretum is only a few miles from the Trent and Mersey Canal which passes through Alrewas village. It’s around a 40-minute walk from the canal to the Arboretum via bridges, 46,47 or 48.

A seven day bus service, operated by Diamond, runs between Alrewas Village and the National Memorial Arboretum. A single fare on the service costs £3. The bus service is free of charge to National Concessionary Bus Pass holders. Staffordshire Knot tickets are also valid for travel on the service.

There are cycle racks located next to our Remembrance Centre for visitors who arrive by bicycle.  

If you would prefer to take a taxi from the village City Cars (01543 254 999) and Ambassador Taxis (01283 544 700 /  www.ambassadorexecutivecars.co.uk)  offer special pre-booked taxi rates for Arboretum visitors.
